Dhadak 2: A New Story of Love, Struggle, and Identity
Dhadak 2 isn’t a direct sequel to the 2018 film. Some are calling it a spiritual follow-up, but it tells a whole new story. The film takes cues from the Tamil hit Pariyerum Perumal, so expect something very different this time.

This time, the makers have chosen to dig deeper. Directed by Shazia Iqbal and produced by Dharma Productions, Zee Studios, and Cloud 9, the film promises to go beyond a love story—touching on real, hard-hitting issues that still exist in society.
A Bold Story at the Center of It All
At the heart of the film is a young couple—Vidhi (played by Triptii Dimri) and Nilesh (played by Siddhant Chaturvedi). They’re in love, but they’re from different castes, and society doesn’t make things easy for them.
Their relationship goes through a lot. Sometimes it’s good, sometimes not — mostly because of how people treat them just for being from different castes. This film doesn’t really try to make things look nice. Like that Tamil movie Pariyerum Perumal, it just shows things the way they are. Love isn’t always easy, especially when society’s against you.
Meet the Cast
Triptii Dimri as Vidhi
Triptii, who we’ve seen shine in Bulbbul, Qala, and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, steps into a powerful role. Here, she plays a strong young woman trying to hold on to love while fighting for her identity in a world that refuses to change.
Siddhant Chaturvedi as Nilesh
Siddhant has already impressed us in Gully Boy and Yudhra. This time, he takes on a socially conscious role—playing a thoughtful and determined man who isn’t afraid to push back against injustice.
Supporting Cast
The film also features solid performers like Vipin Sharma, Deeksha Joshi, and Manjiri Pupala. Their roles add important layers to the story and make the world of Dhadak 2 feel more real.

How the Film Came to Life
The Teaser and First Look
The movie was officially announced in May 2024, along with a teaser and striking first-look posters. The posters carried a strong message:
“If you must die or fight, choose to fight.”
That line alone set the tone for what’s coming.
Shooting and Extra Work
The first leg of filming began in late 2024. But as things moved forward, the team decided to reshoot a few parts in early 2025. They wanted to bring more emotional weight and depth to certain scenes—and that effort really shows.
Censor Certification and Edits
Dhadak 2 recently received a U/A certificate. But it didn’t come without changes.
There were a few mandatory cuts, especially around scenes involving caste slurs and sensitive moments. Even with these changes, insiders say the film’s raw emotion and strong message have stayed intact.
Release Updates
At first, the film was scheduled for November 22, 2024. But as post-production took longer than expected, the team decided not to rush.
Now, it’s officially set to hit theatres on August 1, 2025. A mid-summer release, and fans already seem eager to see what this bold new chapter of Dhadak 2 has to offer.
